18th ANNUAL OUTDOOR EXTRAVAGANZA and MEMBER TRADE SHOW
On October 27th, ABC held its annual Outdoor Extravaganza/Member Trade Show and it was bigger & better; it really has turned into the most popular “must attend” event of the year by everyone in the petrochemical industry. Approx. 2,400 people came out to Ford Park and bought extra chances to win over 200 door prizes, 11 shotguns/rifles and 5 pistols. A big thank you goes out to the entire Suppliers & Associates Council, Laura Kressman of Munro’s Safety Apparel (ABC’s S&A Chair), for all her exemplary volunteerism throughout the year, and an outstanding job planning and coordinating this magnificent event.
Special recognition of our various sponsors that paid for all the great food and drinks:

17th ANNUAL HURRICANE PARTY
 |
|
A record number attended this year’s 17th Annual Hurricane Party. It was held at Rockin “A” Café in Beaumont again this year, and as usual, they did a great job! As always, our special guest speakers (Jefferson County’s Emergency Management Coordinator, Greg Fountain and KFDM-TV’s Meteorologist, James Brown, a/k/a “Mr. Weather”), were very informative. They were very entertaining and provided all the attendees with updated information; answered various questions; as well as played out the various “what-if” scenarios, while stressing the importance of hurricane preparedness and the need to develop a plan for your family & pets.
A special thank you to “Ja-Con Mat” for their generous door prize donations of an ice chest, two mosquito repellant kits, and a flashlight set—it was very much appreciated! Everyone in attendance not only enjoyed great steak and seafood, but they also had fun networking with the other ABC members. Thanks again for everyone’s support! |

June 14-16, 2011, ABC-National’s Legislative Conference:
ABC Southeast Texas was well represented at this year’s National Legislative Conference in Washington, D.C. Accompanying ABC staff on the trip were A.B. and Virginia Bernard (BGI Contractors); Ed Hester (Austin Industrial) and Marilyn Hester; Grady Gibbons (ISC Constructors); and Jay Old (Germer Gertz). We had some very good meetings with our local Legislators, as well as, meeting some up and coming lawmakers who will be friendly to our interests here in Southeast Texas. Many thanks to you all for taking time out of your busy schedules and representing our Board and Chapter!
