Lamont’s 9th Annual “Tee’d
Off” (Political
Awareness) Golf Tournament
Our 9th annual golf tournament was another success (a record
number of teams participated this year), and this “Political
Awareness” event went off without a hitch; everyone
enjoyed the beautiful mild weather throughout the day!
We were fortunate to have State Representative Mike “Tuffy” Hamilton;
Jefferson County Commissioner Eddie Arnold; Michael Fortney of
Congressman Ted Poe’s office; and Jennifer Pate & Ryan
LaRue of Sentator Tommy Williams office, all come by and visit
with everyone. Special thanks to our many monetary and
hole sponsors, as well as AGGREKO, MUNRO’S SAFETY
APPAREL, PERFORMANCE CONTRACTORS, TOTAL SAFETY U.S., and TRIANGLE
WASTE SOLUTIONS for providing all the golfers with delicious
food all day (i.e., breakfast, Italian sausage, grilled
pineapple, kabobs, ribs, ribeyes, boudain, and links); nobody
left hungry! Additionally, great thanks to the following
volunteers for arriving early and staying late: Michelle Hughes & Kari
Studdert (American Personnel); Angel Welch (Aramark Uniform Services);
and Tori Brisendine (Piping Accessories).
Winning Team: MARK MAGNUSON ARCHITECTS
(Golfers: Mark Magnuson, Mike Magnuson, Darrell Myers, and Vince
Jabbia)
10th Place Team: BRYSTAR CONTRACTING,
INC.
(Golfers: Jerry Honza, Brent Simmons, Claude Whitaker, and Clayton
Ayers)
Last Place Team: INDUSTRIAL
SPECIALTY CONTRACTORS, LLC
(Golfers: James Landry, Arnie Donald, Al Rogers, and Davis Sylvester)
Raffle Winner, JOHNNY MONTAGNE, won a set of “John
Daly T1 Matrix Golf Clubs”
Also, SEAN SCOTT (Superior Energies) got a “hole
in one” early in the day! However, since there
were no giveaways for such an accomplishment, ABC didn’t
want him to walk away empty-handed without some form of recognition;
therefore, he was given a sleeve of Buc-ee’s golf
balls (a must have for all golfers)!

Another very special thank you is in order for BELLE
OAKS GOLF COURSE. We appreciate their generosity and
help in making this event so successful. Last but not
least, a warm thank you to our PAC Chair, Kelly Ensinger (APAC-Texas), for
his hard work and tireless hours spent in coordinating this
event. We can always count on him, as well as all our
volunteers from ABC’s Suppliers & Associates Council.

TRADE SHOW
On September 13th (rescheduled from its original date—compliments
of Hurricane Humberto), ABC held its 14th annual Outdoor
Extravaganza/Member Trade Show and it

of
the year by everyone in the petrochemical industry. Approx.

Ford Park and bought extra chances to
win over 200 door prizes, 7 guns, 5 pistols and a
Miller Bobcat
225 amp AC/DC Welding Machine--10,000 Watt Generator donated
by
Matheson Tri-Gas with raffled proceeds being donated back
to ABC. A big thank you
goes out to the entire Suppliers & Associates
Council; Laura Kressman of Aramark Uniform Services; and Inez “Snoopy” Mauboules
of Drago Supply Co., Inc.
(ABC’s S&A Council Co-Chairs),
for all their exemplary volunteerism throughout

August 16, 2007 Hurricane Party
What
timing; with the approach of Hurricane Dean into the Gulf, and
the possibility of it impacting our area, our guest speaker,
KFDM-TV’s Meteorologist, James Brown
(a/k/a “Mr. Weather”), had a lot to talk about at
this year’s 13th Annual Hurricane Party held at Esther’s
Seafood Restaurant.
As always, Mr. Brown was very entertaining
and provided all the attendees with updated information. He
answered many questions and played out the various “what-if” scenarios,
while stressing the importance of hurricane preparedness and
the need to develop a plan for your family & pets. He
also recapped the many lessons learned and experiences encountered
in 2005 during Hurricane Rita.
Various door prizes were
also given away (i.e., Dinner for Two donated by Esther’s;
an Ugly Mug donated by KFDM; Hurricane Lamps; Water Containers;
and an Ice Chest packed full of Hurricane Survival Items). Everyone
in attendance not only enjoyed great cajun seafood and timely
information, but they also had fun networking with the other
ABC members.

ABC-Southeast Texas held its Fall Graduation
ceremonies on December 7th for 90 students who graduated from
the nationally recognized ABC Construction Training Center of
Southeast Texas. Joseph
F. Domino, President/CEO of Entergy Texas, was the keynote speaker. An
appreciation dinner was also provided for the graduates, their
guests, as well as ABC’s Craft Instructors.
ABC of Southeast Texas trains many of the skilled industrial
and construction workers in our area. The organization’s
2 to 4 year curriculum provides training in Pipefitting, Welding,
Electrical, Instrumentation, Industrial Painting and Insulation,
Scaffold Building, Millwright and Boilermaker;
ABC also offers
certifications for Construction Site Safety Technician (CSST). Students are taught
in theory and “hands-on” training utilizing the NCCER’s NCCER Contren Learning Series and Safety Learning Series, respectively, nationally
standardized craft-training curricula, approved by the U.S., Department of Labor. ABC’s
training center is a regional training facility fully funded by Southeast Texas
industry through the man-hour contributions of merit contractors.
